Lucy Gum flavors and ingredientsUpdated 6 months ago
Ingredients
Lucy Gum contains 2, 4, or 6 mg of pharmaceutical-grade nicotine and the following ingredients: gum base, sodium carbonate, calcium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, acacia, carnauba wax, talc, titanium dioxide, food-grade sweeteners (maltitol, sorbitol, acesulfame potassium, sucralose, and saccharin), food-grade flavors, and food-grade colors. Lucy is sugar-free, soy-free, and aspartame-free.
Nicotine we use
Lucy uses a unique formulation of Nicotine Resinate to deliver nicotine in a controlled release manner. This nicotine resinate is nicotine bound to an ion-exchange resin. The use of the resinate as a delivery system maximizes the amount of nicotine released and absorbed by the oral mucosa.
Some other formulations of nicotine gum may result in low buccal nicotine absorption, meaning you either have to use more to get the same feeling or become nauseated because the nicotine enters your gut. Our nicotine resinate works to ensure that the nicotine released from each piece is absorbed by the mouth and not the gut.
Lucy Flavors
Lucy Gum is available in 4mg in Wintergreen (fresh peppermint with hints of citrus), Cinnamon (warm Ceylon cinnamon with notes of ginger), and Pomegranate (juicy pomegranate with açai fruit overtones). These flavors all contain menthol.
Lucy Gum is also available in 2 and 6mg in Mint (fresh spearmint with a slightly sweet, cooling mouth feel), Berry Citrus (bright citrus blended with lush strawberry sweetness), and Mango (ripened mango paired with a tangy lime bite). This flavor does contain menthol.
We also offer Espresso gum, which is great with a cup of coffee. This flavor only comes in 6mg
Artificial Sweeteners
Lucy Gum contains several non-caloric sweeteners to provide a satisfying flavor and mask the harsh taste of nicotine. Fortunately, despite a long history of use in food and pharmaceuticals, neither maltitol, sorbitol, acesulfame potassium, sucralose, nor saccharin has been associated with negative health effects at the (small) amounts that any person would realistically consume from our product.
We assure you that we take great care in selecting the ingredients we use and how we formulate the product, and would only include sweeteners that have established evidence and history of safe use in humans at the quantities used in our product.
Why is Sucralose used?
Sucralose is a non-caloric sweetener that has a long history of safe use in food products and pharmaceuticals. We test a large variety of flavors sweeteners while developing our flavors, and ultimately formulate the product in a way that minimizes the amount of non-essential additives while providing superior flavor and experience. Lucy Chew+Park Pomegranate and Cinnamon flavors contain a small amount of sucralose as a non-nutritive sweetener that effectively masks the harsh flavor of nicotine in the product.
If you're uncomfortable with sucralose in any amount, our Wintergreen gum does not contain any sucralose.
Red Dye #40
Our Wintergreen flavor gum and Lozenges have no Red Dye #40. Both the Cinnamon and Pomegranate flavors of gum do contain a small amount of Red Dye #40
Why is Talc used?
Lucy Gum does contain a small amount of food-grade talc as a processing aid during the manufacturing process.
You've likely seen the news about the link between baby powder and ovarian cancer recently. According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), talc-based powders are generally not carcinogenic. However, there is a small risk that talcum powder may be carcinogenic for humans when applied to the genitals.
Fortunately, talc, an ingredient in chewing gum, has a long history of safe use and is contained in practically all gums.
Are Lucy products vegan?
Lucy Pouches, Gum, and Lozenges are vegan. Lucy Breakers are not vegan.
Does it contain tobacco?
Lucy Gum is a tobacco leaf-free nicotine product. The nicotine used in Lucy is purified from tobacco, but once the pure form is extracted, no other part of the leaf remains.
Where is Lucy Gum manufactured?
Lucy Gum is manufactured in the USA using American and European ingredients.
